Join us this October at Local Love CHS for a laid-back watercolor workshop where we’ll explore the peaceful world of mountain landscapes. Whether you’re new to watercolor or just want to try out some new techniques, this class is all about having fun and creating art that makes you feel good.

We’ll start with the basics of layering— build up layers of paint step by step, adding depth and dimension to your mountainscape. Your instructors, Cat and Dot Brantley, will show you how to mix and blend colors to capture the light and shadows that make mountain scenes so magical.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have your very own set of four mountainscape paintings to take home, along with some new skills and a sense of accomplishment.

Batik is Back!! Join us for a hands-on fabric dyeing workshop using natural indigo dye and the traditional batik wax-resist technique. Everyone will create a 100% cotton, hand-dyed moon phase wall-hanging, with guided inspiration for design and info about our local history with indigo dye and the plant itself.

This time we’ll be set up at our favorite local gift shop, Local Love CHS. So of course, there will be a break in the middle of the workshop to give you time to peruse & shop!

Learn to relax the mind and welcome your inner artist through the ancient practice of drawing mandalas.

This fun, relaxing workshop will open with an easy drawing to relax exercise. We will then demonstrate how to draw a radiating mandala using pen, pencil, and a compass. Then enjoy adding color and depth with various art supplies. We will explore ways to use color and symbols to create meaning and mood in our art, and simply enjoy some art making time together.

This workshop will be held at the wonderful downtown craft and paper shop The Paper Canopy. For this intro level watercolor workshop, you’ll practice some basic watercolor and color blending techniques, and then paint a bouquet of Spring blooms using our simple approach to florals and greenery.

We’ll chat about creating a color palette, give some great tips and easy tricks for drawing your cactus or succulent, and then walk you through the watercolor process.

We are so excited to offer a *NEW* workshop: Watercolor Winterscapes! These landscape vignettes combine the wet-on-wet and layering techniques to create a calming winter scene you’ll want to jump right into! These winter watercolor scenes are just lovely and quite simple to make. We’ll embrace the winter season and celebrate the Full Moon by gathering in creativity.

We’ll start the workshop off with some watercolor basics and practice time, then create (2) different watercolor scenes. Because layering is involved, there might be some downtime while waiting for each layer to dry, so we’ll take a break in the middle to refill our coffees and relax together.

Grab your favorite pals and join us at this month’s Feminist Magic Market for a Self Love Watercolor Workshop! In this very special workshop, we will dream up our own affirmations of self love, learn some simple hand lettering, and use watercolor paints to create positive self-affirmation cards to take home.

We will open by explaining the true science behind positive self affirmations, spend some time crafting affirmations of our own, and then use watercolors to create something beautiful around our written affirmations. We’ll use very simple, lovely watercolor techniques to beautify our statements, showing you how to create a beautiful ombré effect with your paints, and how to jazz up your own handwriting to create a calligraphy feel.

This pop-up workshop will be held at the Feminist Magic Market located at The Itinerate Literate Bookshop in Park Circle on Saturday Feb 12th, 11am. Started in 2019, the Feminist Magic Market is a unique, diverse, and empowering market for small businesses. This market hosts over 30 vendors, a yoga session, self love workshops, and food truck offerings, head to their site for the full line up! This year, the market will also be running a donation drive for Lowcountry Period Project . Check them out and their important mission!

About the Venue:

Nippitaty Distillery is now open at 4405 Spruill Ave! The friendliest neighborhood tasting room serves up their hand made organic vodka and gin straight up or cocktail style. Following a successful investment campaign with Honeycomb Credit, owner Traxler Littlejohn completed the renovation of the circa-1950s Gulf service station the distillery now calls home in August of 2021. The new location can accommodate 39 guests, and will soon include a kitchen so the crew can serve up small southern inspired plates along with their tasty sips. We are thrilled to be hosting a workshop in this space, and can’t wait for you to try their one of a kind organic, botanical infused, spirits. Cheers!
